Welcome to Costiera Pearl, my rebranded, kind of new website and blog. If you’ve been around for a while, you may remember my very randomly worked-on, all-pink blog that I named after myself, Devyn Nicole, that launched in 2018. The gist of the situation is that at that time I was young, mentally ill, and altogether unorganized. I had an “I can do it all” mentality without having any actual “I can do it all” related skills.
I worked really hard to get it together, specifically starting in 2020, and I am VERY proud of how far I have come. However, that all kind of took a pause when my mom was put on hospice and died last year, which obviously derailed things for me. This year, after taking some time to figure out what grief actually looks like (I have not nailed it down: literally all I can tell you is it is random and the timing is VERY annoying), I finally decided to choose what “I can do it all” actually means to me. I took some things that were less important to me off of my plate and made space for the things that I am most passionate about. I’ve decided to invest in myself and my brand, which is why my social media is being plastered with these beautiful photos and my website has a brand new name and look. Essentially, I’ve decided to invest the most into my biggest passion project, which is the blog and podcasts I’ve had for a million years and have just never been consistently good at.
I am really thankful you are all here. Explore the website! There are some really great new features (like the shop section!!) and I am really impressed with how it turned out! Note: all of the vendors I used will be linked at the bottom of the blog post. I really believe that there is going to be something for everyone here – whether you like to read, listen to true crime, cook or try new restaurants, travel, or simply shop. I want to not only share things I find but my experiences, too. I have always been a little too much of an open book (I would love to share my journey setting boundaries with you guys, too) and while I am actively working on keeping A LOT of things to myself, I also know that one of the loneliest feelings in life is when you are going through something and you don’t have anyone in your life who shares a similar experience. I want to share my experiences in some of my loneliest times, at least a very small portion of them, with you so maybe you won’t have to be completely alone.
Costiera Pearl was named after my mom. Costiera means coastal in Italian (it’s a long story but the gist is that “coastalpearl.com” was an unbelievably expensive URL), and my mom loved to be by the water with a book in her hand. Pearl comes from my mom’s birthstone and is arguably my favorite gemstone. My mom didn’t share my desire to tell everyone everything, but the best thing about having her as a mom was that she was supportive of whatever I wanted to do and whoever I wanted to be. While this is not the only thing I want to do in my mom’s memory, it is the one thing I can do right now, to start the journey of honoring her in every area of my life, because I literally would not be here without her.
If you have anything you want to see on the blog, please feel free to contact me with your ideas. You can find many more details about the blog, podcasts, and social media accounts (including some new ones), on Instagram. If you need a link to any of the social media, there are some around the site and in many of my various Instagram bios. I am working hard to be accessible! As always, I cannot wait for what is to come within the Costiera Pearl brand umbrella, I am so thankful for the support of you all, and I love you all so big.
xx Dev
